Gracious. Elegant. Legendary…
Founded in the 17th century and family-run for generations, St. Croix's Buccaneer is the Caribbean's and Virgin Island's longest running resort. Both historic and modern, the resort blends old world charm with warm hospitality and the amenities expected by today's traveler. More than a hotel, The Buccaneer is a premier destination resort for golf, tennis, water sports, weddings, honeymoons and family vacations.
Location
The Buccaneer is located on the eastern end of St. Croix, less than a five-minute drive from the sightseeing, shopping and dining found in the historic town of Christiansted.
Beach Activities and Water Sports
Guests receive complimentary use of ocean kayaks, snorkeling gear, floating mats, beach toys and games at our staffed Beach Shacks located on Mermaid and Grotto Beaches. Ping-pong and beachside basketball are also offered. Learn-to-scuba classes are available for guests 10 years old and over. Guests successfully completing this complimentary two-hour session may opt for a shallow open-water dive on another day, at extra charge.
Nature and History Walk
Join general manager Elizabeth Armstrong on Wednesday mornings for an informative narrative on the flora, fauna and fascinating history of The Buccaneer.
Golf
A challenging, 18-hole, par-70 course encompasses 5,810 yards with spectacular Caribbean Sea views. The course also features a practice area. The golf shop features boutique and resort wear, and staff who arrange tee times, club and cart rentals. Two PGA professionals offer lessons and arrange tournaments. Buccaneer guests receive preferential starting times.
Tennis
The eight-court tennis facility was named by Tennis Magazine “one of the top tennis facilities in the Caribbean”. Two courts are lighted for night play. The pro shop staff arranges court times, lessons, games with club members, strings racquets and has accessories for sale.
Spa
The Hideaway Spa offers daily massage and sauna, seaweed wraps, facials and foot reflexology, as well as salon services.
Fitness Center and Jogging Trail
Complimentary use of fitness equipment, including treadmills, elliptical machines, recumbent cycles, leg curls, lat rower, bench press, bicept/tricept curl, leg extensions and free weights, is available 24/7. For outdoor fitness, a meandering two-mile trail that includes Par Course work-out stations can be accessed in the early morning and late afternoon hours.
Scuba Lessons
Complimentary Introduction to Scuba classes are held regularly, offering guests an opportunity to sample the underwater world in a safe and comfortable environment. Upon completion of the resort course, guests have the option of participating in shallow open water dives, at additional charge.
Manager’s Cocktail Party
Enjoy steel pan music, hors d’oeuvres and rum punch at the Tuesday afternoon party hosted by the Armstrong family and the guest services staff. Folkloric mocko-jumbies, or stilt dancers, provide unique island entertainment and provide a great photo opportunity.

The weekly running of the crabs is a Buccaneer tradition, and is especially appreciated by the under-betting-age set.
