Andy Sallmon - 31st May to 10th June 2010 - South Visayas
Andrew Sallmon is a freelance underwater and nature photographer specializing in images of marine life and the marine environment. His love of the oceans came at age 5 when his father first swam him through the surf of coastal California. He took up Scuba diving in 1979 and became a Scuba Instructor by the end of 1980. It was the slower pace of observing and trying to approach marine life closely that helped him to see and understand the intricacies and miracles of the ocean ecosystem. As he learned to appreciate the living sea, his photographic skills also grew. Picking up his first underwater camera that same year he is now one of the fortunate few that earn a living as an underwater photographer. A native of California he spends much of his time diving and photographing the rich temperate waters of his home state but also travels abroad several months each year to create new images for his stock file.

Along with his skill as an underwater cameraman he is well known for his digital imaging and underwater photography seminars and classes and is also the sales representative for Sea and Sea U.S.A., Southern California territory. His images are featured in advertisements, catalogs, books, magazines, calendars and posters. In addition, some of his images are on display at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Smithsonian institute. View Andy's photos and private photo classes at (www.SeaIt.com)

Gerald Rambert & Kitty Jempson - 29th September to 9th October 2010 - South Visayas
Kitty and Gerald have run very successful workshops with us for the past two years in Komodo and we are very happy to have them running a third in 2010 in the Philippines. Their workshops are relaxed, fun and informal and open to novices or those with more experience. Whether you have a digital compact camera or a dSLR, you will return having learnt and improved your underwater photography.
Kitty (www.underseaimages.co.uk/Site/Home.html) started diving in 1997 and did an Art Foundation course in Manchester soon after learning to dive and has always been a passionate amateur photographer. It took Kitty about 5 years of research (and savings) to buy her first camera housing - a Subal housing for a Nikon F801s. Kitty absolutely loved it from the word go. It was a steep learning curve however - with diving limited to only one, perhaps two holidays a year, and no results until she returned home. In 2005 Kitty finally went digital and bought a Nikon D200 and a Subal housing. For many years Kitty owned and ran a dive shop in London.

Gerald (www.geraldrambert.com) from Mauritius spent his youth in the north part of the island surrounded by nature and sugar cane field. Gerald had always been passionate about the underwater world and soon he started to build aquariums and became an active free-diver. Gerald started working for a diving centre, where he met Mathieu Meur, a respected underwater photographer, who he bought his first camera from, a Canon Powershot A20. Since then Gerald has won World CMAS Championship, Silver Medal (Macro), ADEX Photographer of the Year, Silver Medal (Best Behaviour) and Mauritian National champion 2007/08/09. Gerald has also published his own book, Mauritius Underwater and has been published in a number of magazines worldwide. Gerald now uses a Nikon D300.

Kees Opstal - 21st to 31st December 2010 - Boracay to Coron
Kees (35), began diving in 1999, and as an amateur photographer, he took his first camera underwater the year after. After 3 analogue years, he fully embraced the digital area as of 2004. Capturing the light underwater and the record the feeling of diving, is what Kees drives underwater.
His test grounds are the Dutch murky waters were visibility is more rare than usual, so it is the ideal place to push lighting scenarios to the limit. In his homewaters Kees is always exploring and testing new ideas and gear to refine his skills.
In 2006 and 2007 Kees won the official Dutch Underwater Photography Championship. Ever since he writes articles about underwater photography and travelling for the Dutch magazine “Duiken” and is a freelance photographer for several travel magazines, websites and stock agencies.
Kees runs workshops in underwater photography for those wishing to explore the possibilities of underwater photography and create their own ideas and inspiration. Like no other, Kees knows how to let people find their own rhythm in photography: "Underwater photography should be like breathing; you should not think about f-stops and settings underwater. You just know your configurations for the desired results. Only then you will have your mind free to become creative".

In his workshops Kees will let you use these possibilities. The emphasis lies on capturing the light and creating and discovering your own style.(www.kopstal.nl)
