Kari Brown

Some journeys begin with a single giant stride.

For Kari, that giant stride happened in the cool waters of southern Michigan around the same time Deep Blue Adventures was just beginning its own journey. What started as her first experience with scuba would eventually become a lifelong passion – and, years later, lead her right to the Deep Blue Adventures team.

Kari continued to pursue her passion for diving and went on to earn her PADI Instructor certification. She also studied Psychology and Biology at Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University, combining her interests in people, science, and the underwater world.

We first got to know Kari not long after she began her diving journey, and it didn’t take long to recognize that she was someone who could take on just about anything. When Deep Blue needed someone who was motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to tackle whatever challenge came her way, Kari proved to be exactly that person.

She joined the Deep Blue team in 2018, initially taking on a pivotal role behind the scenes. Kari quickly became one of the people who helped keep the entire company moving, supporting everything from back-office operations and customer invoicing to program development, website content, social media, trade show specials, and countless other projects along the way.

In other words, if something needed to get done, there was a pretty good chance Kari was somewhere in the middle of it.

Over the years, Kari has become an invaluable part of the Deep Blue family – not only because of everything she does, but because she has a remarkable ability to step into a challenge, figure it out, and keep moving forward. Her experience has given her an understanding of Deep Blue from nearly every angle, making her uniquely equipped to help our travelers create incredible journeys of their own.

Today, Kari serves as our Lead Travel Experience Specialist, bringing that same dedication and attention to detail directly to our travelers. As she continues building her global travel resume, she is combining years of experience within Deep Blue with her own firsthand adventures to help clients discover destinations both above and below the surface.

And Kari isn’t afraid of a little adventure herself.

Her diving has taken her from the Great Lakes and icy rivers of Michigan to Ohio quarries, shipwrecks along the Carolinas, and the warm waters of the Florida Keys. Her international adventures have included the Bahamas, Dominica, Roatán, Curaçao, Statia, Saba, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Croix, Tobago, and Cozumel – with plenty more destinations still on her list.

For Kari, every new destination is another opportunity to learn, explore, and share the experience with someone else.

From taking her first giant stride in Michigan to becoming a PADI Instructor, helping build Deep Blue behind the scenes, and now helping travelers around the world turn their own dreams into journeys, Kari’s story has been intertwined with Deep Blue for nearly as long as both have existed.

And we’re pretty excited to see where her next giant stride takes her.
