Bitung is North Sulawesi’s most important harbour town and the point of arrival for most tourists travelling to the region by boat. The town has a magnificent setting amid jungle and ocean and is located within close proximity to several key attractions, including the Lembeh Strait – famous for its exceptional marine life and superb snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The Tangkoko-Batuangas Dua Saudara Nature Reserve, a prime bird-watching site, is also easily reachable from here.
