Situated on the northeastern coast of Papua New Guinea, the remote town of Tufi rests on the Southeastern Peninsula of Cape Nelson in the Oro Province. Dubbed the’ Scandanavia of the Tropics’, the surrounding landscape is characterized by rolling hills meeting numerous steep-sided fjords known as ‘rias’ or drowned river valleys. Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities including exploring shipwrecks, deep fjords and underwater wonderlands featuring an array of undiscovered coral gardens inhabited by a variety of exotic marine life, visiting the many idyllically set coastal villages dotting the area, and enjoying a range of adventure opportunities including kayaking along the rugged coast. Other highlights include fishing, cultural tours, snorkeling and the traditional ‘tapa cloth’, a beautifully decorated cloth produced from the bark of the paper mulberry tree.
