When Eyes for Fiji was conceived in 2010, at the beautiful resort of Matava Eco Resort in Kadavu, I would not have imagined I would be personally returning with my 17 year old son a few short years later.
Mathew decided to do his Senior Class Project on Eyes for Fiji by collecting new and used reading glasses for the villagers of Kadavu. Living in a small town in North Carolina, I was not expecting the amount of glasses that he collected. By the time we were packed and ready to go, he had collected nearly 140 pairs!
The wonderful staff arranged a very special visit to the village for Mathew to present the eye glasses to the chief of Kadavu Village. It was a very special moment for Mathew, not to mention the overwhelming pride that filled my heart watching my son bring his project to fruition.
