Queen’s Hotel and Sea Saba

Saba, Caribbean

The island of Saba, known as the “Unspoiled Queen” of the Caribbean, is often described as having a fairytale quality – in the sense of being in a place that time has all but left unchanged. You will find no franchised resorts, casinos, or shopping malls. You will however find natural beauty, a warm culture filled with friendly people, and a sense of tranquility and charm. Saba is also one of the safest islands in the Caribbean. Feel free to take a walk any time of day or night, and many locals even leave their doors unlocked.

Queen’s Hotel Bar & Kitchen is a small luxury resort tucked away on the beautiful island of Saba. The exclusive property also presents the reality of the destination, with an architectural style reflecting the traditions of Saba. Experience an oasis of serenity and refinement. A graciously intimate environment – a tranquil atmosphere with a warmly residential style and the address is like no other. Situated in the finest of locations, the world is at your fingertips at Queen’s hotel, bar & kitchen on Saba.

Saba’s beauty extends below the turquoise waters of the Caribbean into an exciting marine environment rich in corals and active with a variety of fish life. Every skill level can enjoy diving in Saba as dive sites range from pinnaclse plunging to 100ft and below to shallow dives in the abundant reef systems. Sea Saba Dive Center is located minutes away from Queen’s Hotel, at Fort Bay Harbor. Sea Saba is a PADI 5 Star Dive Center, and they pride themselves on being an excellent dive operation. One of Saba’s attractions is that there is a wide range of sites without the long boat rides. The experienced crew can take you to over 30 dive sites throughout the Saba Marine Park – one of the few self-sustaining marine parks in the world. During the summer months, the water stays comfortably in the upper 80’s, while the winter months usually hover in the higher 70s. This allows diving virtually year round. Sea Saba takes you to these dives sites on one of three boats, Shark Bait, Northern Sky, and Giant Stride. The boats are rated for more divers than Sea Saba will actually take out on them, which means plenty of space for you and your gear. Each boat provides plenty of shade, wind protection, ample seating, gear storage, hanging facilities, fresh water showers, camera bins, drinking water and lemonade, and cold storage for lunches.

Additional Information

Saba plunges below the sea as steeply as it rises above. From shallow patch reefs to deep underwater seamounts, the Unspoiled Queen offers sites suitable for any diver’s level of experience.

Past volcanic activity created spectacular formations and structures such as underwater lava flows and hot springs. The reefs are populated with schools of tropical fish and healthy coral, while sheer, close-to-shore walls are covered with sponges of all sizes. Unusual and exciting sightings are always possible in Saba’s waters, including frequent shark encounters.

Due to the steepness of the coastal zone, shore diving is prohibited. All diving must be done with one of Saba’s licensed dive centers. The quality of the marine environment, resilient reef communities and rich and varied marine life continue to lure divers to Saba’s unspoiled waters!

Hiking on Saba is a rewarding experience, the nature above the waterline is as unique and varied as that which lies below. The island’s vegetation varies with distinctive zones which are related to altitude and precipitation. The top of Mt. Scenery is often enshrouded by clouds resulting in a cloud-forest environment.

While travelers looking to just kick back will enjoy the islands relaxed vibe, local fare, and interesting culture. Visually it delights with extraordinary panoramic sea views, lush foliage and charming white gingerbread and red-roofed Saban cottages, which is picturesque and traditional at all 4 villages. Fully emerge yourself in the culture of Saba with one of the island tours!
