• After meeting the crew at Simons Town pier you board the boat to travel the short distance to the nearby marine reserve. Here in the protection of the reserve, you will find the rarely dived with shark species, the sevengill cow shark. The seven gills are fierce predators as they hunt for seals and fish in packs. The sharks are residents and no form of bait is needed to attract them. Simply slip into the 10-meter deep water and wait for the sharks to arrive and investigate. The seven gills are curious and confident sharks not being shy of the camera or divers at all. You can choose to do a second dive with the sharks today or you can choose to spend it with the seals in the nearby kelp forest.

Blue & Mako Shark Diving in Cape Town is not for the faint hearted, but for those of you who love an adrenaline rush, this experience will not disappoint.

Get up close and personal with arguably one of the prettiest deep sea ocean predators, the Blue Shark and one of the fastest fish in the world, the Mako.

Blue and Mako Sharks are very curious and extraordinary animals. They can often come up very close to you, sometimes bumping into you or your camera.

It is therefore imperative that you are comfortable with close encounters with a bold animal as well swimming in the open ocean.

Pelagic sharks are not always easy to find. This means that some chumming is involved to draw the them out to the diving location. They can also be very skittish and therefore encounters may be short.

You don’t need to be a certified diver to dive with these sharks, but you must be in good physical condition. Swimming and snorkelling skills are important, as you will be snorkelling if you are not a certified scuba diver.

The White Shark Cage Experience

Gansbaai is the Great white shark capital of the world!

The Great White as we know it today is believed to have been around for 70 million years, but their very first ancestors might have appeared already as early as 200 – 500 million years ago! Yet, it is fascinating  how little we know of these most adapted species that outlived even dinosaurs and the ice ages!

Upon arrival you will be given a full safety briefing. We will take a 1min walk down to the harbor where you will meet up with the rest of the team and the boat.
After you have been fully briefed on all procedures the action begins as our crew ‘scents’ the cruise area. It is then when you wait with bated breath for your initial glimpse of the first shark fin. Sharks are usually wary at first so we wait a while for them to settle and then lower the diving cage. Our first guests enter the cage (takes 5 – 6 people) and spend about 20-30 minutes face to face with the sharks! You will also get the chance to go in twice as we rotate the divers.

The crew will work with the individual sharks and you can enjoy topside viewing during your wait as shark activity is often close to the surface. It has been recorded that many shark species are also known for their ‘spy hopping’? This behavior observes sharks swimming close to the waters surface whilst the eyes can be clearly seen out of the water. Great White Sharks have been known to breach right out of the water in pursuit of prey! Topside viewing can yield a lot of those action shots!

The diving takes place along the KwaZulu Natal South Coast on the reefs between the AliwalShoal and Protea Banks. The reefs are rated as some of the best in the world for shark diving and our aim is to show you as many different species of sharks as possible. There is an abundance of life on the reefs and the reef dives will also be full of surprises. On one of the days when the conditions are best suited you will also experience our baited Tiger Shark Dive on the southern end of the Aliwal Shoal.
