Kakuli is a seasonal bush camp renowned for offering some of the best game viewing and night drive safaris in Zambia. The camp features four spacious, traditional safari tents, each with a thatched roof for shade and an open-air bathroom, providing an authentic yet comfortable wilderness experience. Every tent overlooks the Luangwa River, offering guests stunning views of this hippo-populated stretch.
At the heart of the camp is a charming thatched chitenje, located on a wooden deck that overlooks a grazing lawn leading to two rivers. This spot is perfect for guests to unwind and watch the passing wildlife. Safari activities at Kakuli typically include a mix of game drives and walking safaris, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the surrounding wildlife.
Kakuli also stands out as the only true bush camp open during the Luangwa’s “Secret Season” from January 20 to April 3, during which guests can experience the Rivers and Rainbows safaris. At this time, the river swells, enabling both walking and boating safaris, offering a unique perspective of the lush and vibrant landscape.
